Steve has been involved in his community and public service throughout his adult life. He believes in giving back to the community where he lives. He has been a leader in planning for Towson's future, assisting neighborhoods, addressing the need for open space, providing needed school improvements, services to seniors, and the involvement of citizens in government decisions.

Now, as a Delegate from Baltimore County’s 42^nd District, Steve is serving the people and businesses of Towson, Timonium, Lutherville, Loch Raven/Oakleigh and Smith-Greenspring. He is a member of the Environmental Matters Committee and has become a respected leader on land use and Chesapeake Bay related issues. He has been recognized as a 2009 Legislative Champion by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. He has also been a leader on housing and local, community issues, earning him praise from the Maryland Municipal League, teachers, environmental advocates and community leaders.

• Elected to the Maryland House of Delegates in November 2006. Currently serves on the Environmental Matters Committee and the Oyster Advisory Commission.

• Married for 31 years to Betsy; long time resident of Stoneleigh; has lived in the district for over 25 years.

•  Currently the Director of Special Projects for the Howard County Executive; formerly the County’s Deputy Director of Planning and Zoning

• Former director of various Smart Growth and revitalization programs for neighborhoods and businesses at the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and with the Baltimore County government

• Steve has practiced law, taught school in the Baltimore City School System and has served on the boards of various, local non-profit organizations.
